HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE FILES

You can listen directly from the website, or you can choose to download (which is the best option for many reasons). Using a widely used browser such as Firefox will retain the downloaded file’s filename. Otherwise, some private browsers like Duck Duck Go will unfortunately always overwrite the previous file downloaded – naming it as “download.mp3.” (Of course you can rename after every download if you want to use a private browser. There might be private browsers without this nuisance. Duck Duck Go is not one of them – as of the time of this writing.)

Once you have downloaded all desired mp3 files, move them into a directory that you have created for them. (Not a good idea to clutter your phones’ download directory.)

WHAT YOU WILL HEAR

(Hearing both in the web player and downloaded Mp3s.) You will first hear the reference followed by the passage shown in the filename (and downloaded mp3 in the Title). The reading of the passage is accomplished in short phrases with a silence after each phrase of the same amount of time as the hearing of the phrase. Let’s refer to this as the Repeat-After-Me Memorization Method.

Upon every silence, simply repeat what you just heard. As you learn, you will be saying the next part of the passage before you hear it. Sometimes the next part is longer than the current time of silence, so you’ll have to say it fast in those instances. (It would be impractical to have the silence time match the longest of either phrase. The main focus is in repeating what you just heard.)

SHOWING THE PASSAGE TEXT (LYRICS) WHILE PLAYING THE MP3

(Not available using the web player.) These mp3s contain both audio and unsynced lyrics. I tested many audio players in Android. The only one that I know of that is able to show the lyrics (the Bible text of the passage) is called “Rocket Player” which you can get on the Google Play Store. (Rocket Player Pro will remove ads for $3 and some change. It also provides playback speed, a timer and other nice features). All other players (as of the time of this writing) will present a message like, “Unable to locate lyrics” or “Error loading lyrics.”) Rocket Player loads them fine.

Once installed, open Rocket Player and navigate to the directory where you moved the files to and select a file. You can use the control in the player to repeat the current song (passage), repeat all or just play through once.

Select “Lyrics” to display the lyrics. Lyrics will remain turned on (even after closing and reopening the player) until you turn it off.

As for Apple devices, I’m sure you can find a suitable player to display the lyrics which are saved in the ID3 and unsynced format. (Synced lyrics scroll as the mp3 plays and for memorization purposes will not work well for several reasons.) Unfortunately, some players will only show lyrics that are synced. Rocket Player will display both synced and unsynced lyrics.

The lyrics show even when paused. So you can navigate through both formats of the entire passage.

PASSAGE TEXT FONT WITHIN THE MP3 LYRICS

NOTE: Depending on the font set on your phone the lower case “L” might look the same as an upper case “I”. So you might have to install a different font on your phone. I installed “BRCleanSanSL”. That font will distinguish the “L” and “I” letters very well.

The lyrics will show first as the first letters of each word of the Bible passage in the current file. This is to assist you in memorization. (Use the pause button in the Repeat-After-Me Memorization Method silence time between phrases if you want more time to recall the next phrase of the passage.)

Beneath that is the full text of the same passage. You may want to at first use the full text to confirm your hearing of all the word pronunciations so that you are sure to memorize them correctly. Sometimes in recording the plural of some words like “hearts”, the “s” may not be clear enough and first thought to be singular (“heart”). This is because recording processors in even a happy medium setting often silence the “s” sound at the end of a word in the reduction of annoying whistles and lisps. Other pronunciations might have too soft of a “d” or “t”. And yet a lot depends on your phone or computer speaker quality and sound settings. Nevertheless, when I come across these either in production or even after posting, I put the ending sound back in.

Previously an Mp3 Update List was provided. It was determined that this was not needed, since the mp3 in the table would update on the next entry.

FLOWING BROOK AND NIGHTINGALES BACKGROUND

Some parts of a word might be obscured by the brook and/or nightingales singing in the background. I do try to avoid this problem keeping the background at a minimum, making learning more relaxed which improves focus. You can imagine yourself sitting next to a tree or on a bench alone with God and His word, hearing His creation instead of enclosed in a study or quiet library which can accelerate weariness. Sitting too long is unhealthy. Get up and move about. Work is good for overall health, focus and memorization.

PRONUNCIATIONS (A GOOD REASON FOR FOLLOWING ALONG WITH THE TEXT – AT LEAST AT FIRST)

In all theses regards, I will be diligent in attempts to make sure that the pronunciations are distinct and not overcome by the background theme. But yet, being imperfect, I might overlook a problem here and there. And that of course is one reason that I sought out a way to place the passage within the mp3. (I have not yet placed the text within full chapters on the other pages of this website. That might be done sometime in the future, if practical.)

STAY FAITHFUL TO GOD’S WORD AND IN GOD’S WORD

Please enjoy as you faithfully learn and memorize God’s word. Nevertheless, do not neglect your reading through of the entire word of God.
